I am so excited to be teaching here at Semmes Middle School for the seventh year! I have nine years of teaching experience in Mobile County, and grew up right here in Semmes, Alabama. Twenty years or so ago, I myself attended this very same school. It brings me great joy to be given the opportunity to give back to the community that helped shape and educate me!

I graduated from MGM in 2008 and received my bachelor's and master's degrees in education at the University of South Alabama. Currently, I am teaching 7th grade Civics and Geography, and have taught both 6th grade U.S. History and 8th grade World history here at Semmes in previous years. The education of our students is my life's passion, and I am dedicated to giving my students the best possible social studies education that I can! They are our future.

My philosophy as an educator is to provide a challenging and thought-provoking approach to history and current events. I want my students to understand that their present is a consequence of the historical events we learn about so that they will go out into the world conscious of the importance of the events happening around them. My hope for my students is that they will develop their own questions and ideas, becoming independent thinkers and conscious historical actors themselves.
